Alone in His Room

Darrin rushes off through the crowds of students milling around and straight to his room. He closes the door behind him and quickly slips the box with the knife in it back into his desk drawer. Once he is sure it is securely hidden behind his papers, pens, and other normal school items stored in the drawer he closes it and collapses onto his bed.

What is going on? He thinks to himself. What have I ended up in the middle of? Why is this happening to me? What big dark evil lives below here? How am I supposed to stop it? Why me?

The questions just keep flooding into his mind like an avalanche of unanswered words pounding down upon him. Their weight becomes too much and he feels his body give in, fully collapsing into his bed and starting to cry. The tears flowed, followed by sobs into his pillow, and lasted for what seemed like hours.

Once the waterworks stopped he shoved the pillow, now soaked with tears, onto the floor and lays there, staring up at the ceiling. His mind is thankfully blank, having let most of it out, so only new thoughts are allowed to seep in.

Lisa. His first new thought of is of her. She stood by me through it all. She actually stood by me. Most would have ran, but she stayed.

Darrin sits bold upright. "Crap." He hops off the bed and into his feet. "Crap, Crap, Crap." He starts to shuffle around for his shoes. How could I have just let her go after that? His mind starts railing. She was in just as much shock as I was, perhaps more, and let her just wander off alone. How she must be feeling. I have to find her.[i]

His shoes now firmly in place he takes off out the door. [i]But where would I find her?
