Brothers

You get off the bus and walk the 9 city blocks from the bus station back to home. Nothing compared to the 12 mile pack hike yo're used to in the Army. As you walk home people stop and wave. One man walking his son point's to you and says 'there goes a brave soldier.' It pleases you to see so many people in support of you.

You walk in the door and right off recognize the familiar odor of alchol. As you turn to the right, there sitting on the family worn couch sits your father holding a beer.

"Your stuff is still in your room, we haven't changed it yet. So I guess you can crash there."

Unlike your father your mother is nowhere to be seen. You walk into your bedroom and toss your green military duffle bag onto the floor. Micheal walks by your room and give s quiet hello as he passes by.

The week passes not soon enough as you pack your duffle bag and walk back to the bus statsion, without being offered or asking for a ride.

Once gain you are waved a freindly hello as you pass by proudly in your Dress Green Uniform. More of a proud response you get from people you don't even know than you do your own family.

After a short bus ride you arrive at Fort Bragg Army Base.
