In boot camp you become proficient with your rifle gaining an expert award for shooting best in your series command. Your platoon first consist of 40 members but upon graduation has only 32 remaining from those who weren't dropped. You find yourself to be among the 32.

Boot camp is tough, but you as you go through every devastating challenge, you think of your family back home who is depending on your success. Mostly, you think of your brother Kenny and how you can't let him down. You won't allow him to be dissappointed. You have already let him down once before and it will never happen again. You will make it through this or die trying.

In boot camp you test all that you have to give through every challenge. The long 12 mile hikes with full gear and weapons nearly drains you but never do you give up. Many times the Drill Instructors try to break you down physically and emotionally, but you never let them succeed. You are hard, and near the end you know you are ready to face anything a soldier will ever have to face.

Graduation came slowly but is finally here. Privates from eight platoons march in formation as they pass by the seated family audiences. The platoon drill sergeant yells the command, "Salute!" as you all pass by the parade deck where the Battalion Commander stands returning your salute. At the end of the parade you are given your final orders of boot camp by your Drill Sergeant; "Dismissed!"

Several Privates are greeted by their families, but as expected, yours are nowhere to be seen. Upon graduation you are given your assignments of your next duty station; where you are to report in one week from graduation.
