Everything Went Dark

It was quite difficult to run and stay quiet. Especially since there was shattered glass, bodies, fires, and the fact that every single step they took seemed to make noise. The reality of all of this was finally setting in. Their friends were dead. The majority of the people in the city and the country(and world!) were also probably dead. There was no way they'd find other survivors easily, but that was something the two would have to do. The first thing they needed was to find food, sleeping bags maybe, a safe shelter, and more ammunition for the guns they had found. They should probably find better guns than simple hand guns, but it was good for now.

Elliana stopped walking to watch one of the alien creatures crash through a restaurant to stop the shrill sound of a broken fire alarm. Black smoke was coming from the back of the restaurant. Jordan nudged her, signalling that they needed to keep moving. Finding another way to communicate with one another without speaking was also very important. As of now, all they needed to do was point and gesture to things. But soon, it will become very difficult to interact without speaking. There was too many things to worry about.

A cat darted out in front of them and into the street, accidentally stepping into some broken glass. The cat yelped and looked at Elliana and Jordan, meowing loudly for help. The two girls could do nothing. They kept on running. The spider monster that was inside the restaurant burst out of the building, which shattered more glass everywhere and shot one of its appendages at the poor kitty. It was impaled. The cat was dropped and abandoned. It was left to rot.

Eventually, they had to stop running. One can only run for so long without breathing heavily, and that was quite noisy in comparison to the now extremely quiet atmosphere. They chose to rest under a shaded tree. Jordan checked her phone. 49% battery left. Elliana had 67% left. Both had missed calls and a stream of text messages from friends and family. The two sent replies and messages in hope that someone would respond. No one did. Jordan checked social media. There were countless photos, videos, and live streams that had ended abruptly. She put her phone away.

The tree the two were sitting under shook and littered leaves everywhere. The girls looked up and froze. A spider demon thing had also decided to rest. And it chose the tree directly above the two. They slowly stood up. Jordan took a step forwards. She stepped on some leaves. They made that crinkly sound. Oh no. What should they do?!
