Chamber's College
Blinking himself back awake, Tox caught himself from slumping out of the chair again just as someone strolled in from the corridor. Somewhat bashful that he couldn't stay awake in a place where it seemed like no one ever slept, he got to his feet and was going to replace the charter on its shelf. The storm grew especially thunderous the next moment, the whole room seemed to shudder, and all the lamps faded out, leaving the large room lit only by a terribly faint glow from the fireplace.
Tox froze and heard the new entrant to the library freeze as well. Tox hadn't recognized them. He knew next to no one and hadn't gotten to explore much of the campus hangouts yet. Who ever this person was, they were only a few yards away, and now they were both just standing there, afraid to trip over a footstool or something. However, if the lights were to come back on in a few seconds, any attempt at casual conversation would instantly seem foolish. But if they didn't turn on, a continuing silence would be far too creepy.
"Well, how long till they come back on? My name is Tox Newlock by the way; I just got here three days ago. Who are you?"
As they came closer, the faint firelight was just enough to tell that the person was a tall, skinny man. His eyes were encased in sunglasses, which was strange as he was inside, and it was night.
"Greetings Tox, I am Leblanc the Lucid. And this is Espeon."
Tox noticed the small cat in Leblanc's arms.
"I teach 'Chaos control,' however I currently have no students." He leant in closer to Tox. "The dean only keeps me on staff because he is afraid of what I would do if I was out in the world."
"Damn it Leblanc, what did I tell you about talking to the students?"
