Legend

While his people may not be followers of the One True God, they're still fighting on the side of good and you shouldn't turn away such help. He's glad that you accept his help and finally tells you his name is Olanvi.

"Okay, but how long is this going to take?" you ask.
"Only a couple days at most. I have to return to the forest and tell them the news. I'm sure they'll help. You could come back with me."
"No, I'm staying here to make sure Azoth doesn't try any new tricks."
"Are you sure? I mean what about all those undead from the village?"
"I'm not worried with the One True God's faith protecting me, besides, you said yourself that not many ever leave the area. If I stay a good distance and sleep light, and I'll deal with Azoth's mind attacks if he tries something again. I'll be fine, just get back quickly!"

Olanvi makes his way back to the forest, making sure to stay far away from your old village's radius. Meanwhile you set up camp by a couple trees and pray for the One True God to give you protection during the night.

You still see some dead wandering in the distance, but none approach, eventually you fall asleep against the tree. It is then that Azoth begins his attack…

"Hypocritical priest! You claim to be a servant to your weak god, yet ask for help from those that practically worship trees? Hah! You must not have as much faith in him as you think! I wonder what your God fearing wife would say…let's find out!"

Suddenly you see Brenda in your dream.
"My love, you've lost your way. Come to me and I will bring you back to the right path…"

She reaches out to embrace you and then rots before your eyes causing you to wake up! You jump up ready for battle and look around, but there is nothing near you. You think you're okay until you turn your head again and find yourself face to face to Brenda and this time it isn't a dream.

"Shit!" you blurt out and fall back on the ground before scrambling back up. Normally as a man of God you wouldn't use such language, but you really were taken off guard!

Meanwhile Brenda's decayed form stands before you. She's a deathly gray color, with sunken eyes and a big bloody gaping hole in her stomach. A completely disgusting parody of what she once was.

"Swearing? Is that how far you've fallen from the One True Faith? When you left me to die and go to that corrupted city to indulge in wickedness no doubt!"
"I didn't leave you to die! And you are NOT Brenda!" you shout and raise your weapon, but once again powerful evil is attempting to drain your fortitude.
"Silence! Look at what your sloth has caused! I have become THIS because you weren't more aware! And your son! You didn't just destroy my life, or even that of the entire village. You killed your own flesh that was still forming my womb!"
"SHUT UP! THIS IS ALL LIES! ARGH!"

You suddenly feel a painful bite on the back of your leg. You turn to see a grotesque little creature and kick at it. It looks like some sort of baby, but a lot more hideous. You get a sick feeling when you realize that Brenda's stomach does have a wide hole in it.

"That's our baby! Isn't he beautiful?" Brenda exclaims and begins to laugh. The little abomination begins to laugh as well.

This is a nightmare and now you're even hearing the laughter of Azoth fill your head. Meanwhile Brenda and your…son are fully intent on making you embrace them.

You can expend a prayer to give you the strength to keep your mind focused

If you have a potion of Willpower, you may drink it to get the same effect.

If you still have a lock of Brenda's hair you use this to remind yourself of what the real Brenda was like, making this mind twist more tolerable.

If you can't do any of these things, you'll have to subtract 3 from your combat rolls for this combat. In any case you still have to fight them at the same time.
