You talk to the policeman offering information on what may occur and who to investigate that may have commited the crime.
The policeman thanks you and later that day Jcak the ripper is brought in for investigation and interogation. No evidence is found, but in fear of capture Jack holds off on any more murders until several years later which does not correlates to what is supposed to happen.
You walk back to the machine but it is no longer there. You have interuppted the Time Paradox and are now possibly trapped in 1888.
