The Island of Destiny
"Great," Buck continues and places the gun in your hands. "Well now, I'd like you to meet the crew."
With the men standing in single file order, Buck points and lists down the row "This is Smithers, Pulsen, Grays, and Donovan." When he calls out each name, the men give a snappy salute in turn. They must be very used to this routine, you think.
"So what exactly are you all doing here?" you ask, feeling as if it should now be your turn to ask the questions.
"Well as it just so happens," Buck explains. "We were sent to this island to execute that girl you just ran into back there."
"What?!" you cry in confusion. "Why does the army need to be here just to take out one girl?"
"Because she's very dangerous," Buck continues. "She can do things normal people like you and me couldn't even dream of doing."
You think back to the incredible strength that girl seemed to have earlier when she was carrying you. This must be exactly what Buck is saying.
"Do you know how I got here?" you ask, hoping for some kind of clue at least.
The man dismally shakes his head. "Sorry, I have no idea about that."
All of a sudden, you hear Smithers yell out "Sir! There she is!"
Quickly, you all turn and face the direction Smithers is pointing in. Sure enough, there's the girl treading up one of the hills in the distance. She obviously doesn't see any of you, because she is looking frantically down by the stream. Must be trying to find me, you think smugly.
"Should we attack now sir?" Donovan asks with anticipation. He is clutching his rifle tightly, and you can tell he is eager for some action.
Buck doesn't say anything for a moment and you can tell he is deeply contemplating the situation.
Maybe you should help out his decision making?
