Darkness and Light

You dig your fangs into his arm and slowly drink a little blood. You look at his face and notice him trying valiantly to hide his pain and discomfort. As soon as you feel your strength has recovered, you pull away.

"Thank you," you say gratefully. "But.. I still don't understand why you are helping me. I don't even know your name."

"My true name, you are not yet ready to know", he replies as he puts a bandage on his arm. "But you may call me... Manee."

"Manee?"

"I have been called many things, by many people," he explains. "I have lived many lives and died many deaths. I am everyone who has lived to fulfill the prophesy of old." He smiles at your look of confusion.

"The prophesy of old is known to few, believed by even fewer, and fully understood by none. This is what it states." He closes his eyes before reciting, his voice suddenly becoming infinitely ancient and wise, like that of a god.

"Darkness and Light,
An endless fight,
But when they are one,
The battle is done

The old will be made new,
The many become few,
The earth will shake,
In the hero's wake.

Yet, not a villian he will slay,
But innocent blood will spill by day,
But when will this all come to pass?
Today, the future, and the past.

What eye can see, what mind can know,
How the lost seed will grow?
Not even the Goddess, the most old
Can know how the tale will unfold."
