The Country from Hell

Closing your eyes, you grab Fritz's hand, standing up as you do so. He stands up as well, says a few words to Ponytail and pulls you gently out of the compartment. You look back once more at Ponytail. He looks old, sitting there alone in the dark. His smile has faded and he won't quite meet your gaze.

Fritz unlocks the door to his sleeper car, beckoning you inside. He does not bother to turn on the light, but instead stands staring at you as you in turn stare out the window. To be anywhere but here, anywhere but hereĀ…

He approaches you from behind. He gently pulls your hair over your right shoulder, breathing in heavily as the tip of his nose graces the left side of your neck. His other arm grips you tightly around the waist and you know now that there will be no escape. His exhalation tickles the skin of your neck and shoulder.

"Do you like me?" he whispers in your ear, nibbling it gently between pauses.

"Yes," you reply, but the answer sounds more like a question.

He kisses your neck, a little harder this time, his lips flattening themselves against your skin.

"Do you like me?" he asks again, tightening his grip around your waste while running his tongue down your shoulder.

"Yes," you reply again, your voice quavering.

"I don't believe you," he snarls, biting down hard on your earlobe. You cry out, but his hand immediately flies to cover your mouth. His other arm now springs into motion, pulling clumsily at your skirt. He pins you roughly against the wall while you hear the unmistakable sound of his own belt being loosened.

"You will like me, you little bitch. You will like everything about me. Einverstanden?"

From far away, you can hear his animal grunts as he forces himself into you. You keep your gaze looking steadily out the window, at the moon and the stars that always shine so brightly in Iad.

As your motherland rushes away from you on a long spool of forests and open plains, you close your eyes and fall gratefully into that wide empty space that is now your only home.
