Weapon

Jezirea leaned back in to the shadows, pressing in to the damp earth of the tunnel. The loose roots tickled at her skin, and more than once she could swear a bug was crawling across her flesh.

She remained silent, and eventually the voices she could hear from above faded away.
She counted to thirty, and when it was still silent, she decided it was safe to emerge from the hole.

She stood up, and looked at the hole above her once more.
If she jumped, then maybe she would be able to reach it.

She tried; she jumped as high as she could, and clutched at the entrance way, only to have more earth break off in her hands. She tried grabbing at the roots, but none of them were strong enough to hold her weight; most of them just broke off as she pulled at them.
Great... Just great...

Jezirea sighed. She couldn't very well call for help. Who would come? The bandits?
No, that was definitely not a good idea.

Jezirea stopped jumping, and sighed. It was just out of her reach.
How frustrating.

So what were her options?
The only thing she could really do was venture down the tunnel.

Jezirea peered down in to the dark tunnel. She had flint, but nothing to light. The earth and roots around her were alive and fresh with water. None of it would light.
Too bad...

She set off down the tunnel. She had her hand on the wall of the tunnel as she felt her way through the darkness, going slowly and yet still tripping on the occasional exposed root.

It wasn't long before Jezirea stumbled out of the tunnel and in to an open chamber.

The first thing she noticed was that this area was lit. There were torches mounted about the room, but they were extremely unusual.
The flame was dark blue, and very dim, despite it's size, and the light it emitted was just... the only way to describe it is 'black'.
The light was black; unnatural and eerie, yet it still somehow seemed to be providing a small amount of light.

Jezirea stepped in to the chamber hesitantly. It appeared to be some sort of alter room.
There was indeed an large, square, stone alter, sitting in the middle of the room, and off to one side was a large pair of stone doors.
Jezirea walked up to the doors and found that they were sealed with warding paper; little sheets of paper supposedly insicribed with spells, to keep evil out, or perhaps in this case, in.

She turned about, and then approached the alter; curious as to what it had been used for.
She began to inspect it, running her hands across the smooth stone surface and found a hole cut in to the center. She was uncertain, but it looked as if something was supposed to be inserted in to it.

She had been anxious to find a way out of the tunnel since getting herself trapped, but now... She was curious.
Who had build this alter, and to what end?
