Joey was still upset about that one bad night; that one night when Joey lost his dad, forever.
Chapter One: School
Setting: The Johnson home. 9:23 AM. Sunday: August 04, 1992
Joey was sitting at his dining room table, enjoying a fine meal after a hard morning of work. His dad was at war right now, so he had to do all of the work that his dad did. His mother was very sick of cancer, and he just couldn't help much at all. His uncle was there to watch him. Joey finished eating his breakfast. He got up, and grabbed the plate and the fork, and brought it to the sink. He put the plate and fork in the sink, and went back outside. He had gotten eggs for breakfast, and they were very good. Joey picked up his axe, and started chopping wood. He lived on his farm with only his mother and uncle. Two hours later, Joey picked up all of the wood, and took it inside. He put it in his pile of wood, and sat down in a chair to relax. He picked up his glass of water, and put it to his lips. The water glistened on the fine glass cup, as he slowly drank his ice cold water. He walked outside, and put the glass down on a fine wood carved table. He then picked up his axe, and continued to chop wood. Another eight hours later, he was in his bed, sleeping. Tomorrow, he would start school again.
Joey woke up, and looked at his clock. It was 6:59AM. He had to go to school now. He slowly got up, took a shower. Got dressed, ate his breakfast, and then brushed his teeth. He got on his bike, and started pedaling to get to school. He got there five minutes later, and he put his bike up. He took his helmet off, and put it in his back pack. He went inside the school, and waited for the bell to ring. A few minutes later, it did ring, and Joey walked to his locker. He entered the number, 6,36,and 48. He pulled open his locker, and picked up his school books. He then put his back pack in his locker, and closed his locker. He then walked to his first class, and sat down in a seat in the back. There was a kid next to him. He looked like he was thirteen. Joey looked back to the front. The kid looked at him. Kid: My name is Jason. What is yours? Joey: Joey Johnson. What is your last name? Jason: Jackson. Joey: Okay. Jason: Watch out for the school bully. Joey: Okay. They both then looked back to the front, and took the class.
Joey was walking down the hall. He saw a big kid walking down the hall towards him. He wore a black jacket, and white t-shirt. He also wore jeans with holes in the pants. He walked next to Joey, and shoved him into his locker. Joey: Hey! What is your problem man! The kid looked at him. Joey then realized, that he was the school bully. His name was Billy, and soon, Joey would get the beating of his life. Billy slapped Joey in the face. Joey grabbed Billy, and punched him in the face. Jason grabbed Joey, and pulled him off. Billy punched Joey in the stomach repeatedly. Joey then knew that Jason was a friend of Billy's. Billy picked up one of Joey's big school books, and slammed it into Joey's face. Joey fell to the ground. There was a lot of blood pouring out of his mouth and nose. He spit a lot on to the floor. Billy: You better stay away from me, before you get hurt. Billy started walking away, when Joey made the biggest mistake of his life so far. Joey: You and me, fight in a month. In the school parking lot. After school at 4:00PM. Billy: You're on. Billy walked down the hall, and Joey wiped some blood off of his lip. Joey then picked up his things, and walked to his locker to put his stuff up. He then grabbed his backpack, and put his homework in it. He then walked outside, to get his bike, and ride home.
Joey walked outside, and his bike was in the street, destroyed. Billy had broken his bike. Joey started to walk home, when three of Billy's friends surrounded him. Joey: Oh great. They attacked Joey. Joey hit one in the face with his book, and slammed his backpack into another's face. The last slammed his helmet into Joey's back. Joey screamed as he fell to the ground. The bully repeatedly slammed his helmet into Joey's back. The other two grabbed a rope. Bully #1: Let's hang him. Bully #2 and #3: Okay. They wrapped the rope around Joey's neck, and threw the rope around the top of the swing post. Jason then came out, and looked at the bullies. Jason: Stop! They looked at him, and grabbed the rope. They then left. Jason picked Joey up. Joey punched Jason in the nose. Blood was coming out of it. Jason wiped the blood off of his nose, and picked up a basketball. He threw it into Joey's face, and Joey fell down. Joey was bleeding even worse now, and blood was going down to where the dried up blood was. Jason: Why did you hit me! Jason slammed Joey's helmet into Joey's stomach, and then left. Joey got up, and walked home.
Joey got home, and threw his helmet into the wall. He then ran up to his room, and slammed the door. He really wanted to fight Billy, but first he had to get ready for it. Joey was a little worried about it to. He went to sleep, and was not very excited to go to school tomorrow.
Joey got to school the next day, and he saw the principal standing by Billy. He wanted Joey to come to him. Joey walked over to the principal, and wondered what he wanted. Principal: You two have been suspended for one month, for fighting in the hall. Do you understand me. Billy, and Joey: Yes sir. Principal: Okay. Get your stuff, and go home. Billy looked at Joey, and mouthed the words, "In one month, you are dead." Joey went outside, and walked home. He then sat down at his table, and started eating a snack. After that, he got up and pushed his chair in. He then heard someone knocking at his door. Joey walked to the door, and opened it. It was Jason. Jason: What are you doing? Are you crazy picking a fight with Billy? He is going to beat you up. Joey: No way man. I can hold my own. I work on a farm remember? Leave me alone! You are his friend! Joey shoved Jason, and Jason backed up. Jason: Okay man, whatever you say. Jason walked away. Joey closed the front door of his house. It was a finely crafted wooden door made with only the best wood. Joey looked at it for the first time in a while, and then he locked it. Joey then walked away, and sat on his couch, and started to watch T.V. He picked up his coke from the table, and drank from it. The coke slowly brushed his lips, and went into his mouth slowly. He swallowed it, and was refreshed. He got up, and turned the T.V. off.
