Legend

Nothing like fortune hunting to fuel an adventure! Still it would be nice to actually have goal of some sort. You're still new at this so you'd like a little direction. You start asking around the city if there's any "quests" you can go on for them.

Not surprisingly you get a lot of strange looks! People don't normally have grand tasks to assign to wandering adventurers! Eventually one citizen directs you to Raltec. He's a Wizard of considerable power that lives in the city. He's reclusive and doesn't like visitors (One wonders why he lives in the city) however he's been known to hire "adventurers" in the past, he's even known to be accommodating to such types.

You follow the directions to Raltec's home, when you arrive, you're surprised to see it isn't some grand tower, or even a huge mansion, it's just a normal house. You go to knock on the door, and a voice from the inside says "Don't knock just enter."

So you enter and find a very tidy house, which looks just a little bigger on the inside than the outside would indicate. Such are the wonders of magic. Raltec emerges from another room, and he looks like how a Wizard normally looks like, an old guy with a long white beard dressed in a robe. He looks you up and down.

"Hmm, you seem a little less experienced than whom I normally employ, but you'll do."
"Hey! I traveled a long way to get here!" you say.
"And? So do many fat merchants who come through here, doesn't make them any better combatants though, and it certainly doesn't make me want to hire them to go explore some dungeon."
"Well what makes you think I'm here to work for you anyway?"
"What, are you kidding me? You are an aspiring adventurer are you not? Your kind is always drawn to my kind."
"Oh? And what's that?"
"Old Wizards who can't spare the time to go get their own spell materials or whatever else they can't spare the time to get."
"So you want me to get something for you?"
"Got it in one. I won't bore you with the details, but I'm working on a new spell and I need several missing components I just realized I don't have, so this is where you come in, I'll be sending you to go get them."
"Okay, but what do I get out of this?"
"Well naturally anything you find on your quests of course."
"What?! I don't get anything from you? I mean what happens if I don't find anything?! I'd just be your manservant doing what you tell me without pay!"
"Relax! You'll be getting monetarily compensated as well by me. You'll be able to stay here too in between jobs, there's a spare room over there. You can store your items and gold in there too if you wish. Just don't bother me when you're here."
"Uh thanks, that's pretty generous of you, aren't worried about a complete stranger staying here though?"
"Not really, it's just easier for me if you're readily available while you're working for me. And you wouldn't pose much of a threat anyway, I could turn you into a toad without batting an eye if I so desired. I don't care what your politics or beliefs are; I don't concern myself with such matters. Just as long as you get the job done, I'll be happy. So we got a deal?"
"Sure, I guess." You say trying to take all of this in.

"Good! Now your first task is to go get me some grave moss, an easy task, just go down to the city graveyard. I know the dead have an inclination not to rest in peace though, so I'll pay you 25 gold pieces when you get back with it."
"Wow, 25 gold just for scraping some fungus off of a gravestone? That sounds pretty easy actually."
"Uh, no. The grave moss I need is called Gray Blossom, and it tends to grow in dark damp underground areas. It looks kind of like a flower actually, except its mossÂ…oh you'll know it when you see it, it's gray! You can look for it above ground if you wish, but chances are you'll be going into the city crypts to find the stuff. Don't worry; there shouldn't be anything too bad down there."

Well you'll soon find out. Remember you now have a place to stash your stuff. Raltec's House. Mark this down so you can make a list of what you want to keep there in the future. Also keep in mind that your gold and items you keep here can't be used while you're actually on a quest! (You CAN use any gold that you stash here when buying things here in the city though)
