Who is approaching, you wonder for a few more moments before you decide that it realy doesn't matter. It's not worth the risk.
You get on your horse and ride off, leaving the light of the fire behind you. Sure they'll know you were there, but with any luck they won't know where you went.
The longer you ride, the more sure you are that you have no idea where you are going. You slow Betty down to a trot and continue to ride. You wish you knew the desert like Gus. Gus could be blindfolded and left to die hundreds of miles from civilization and still find his way back home.
As the sun starts to rise you dismount and give Betty and yourself some water. You are weary, as is your horse. You don't see any hints of nearby villages or indian camps, but you desperatley need sleep.
Do you rest before riding on or do you keep moving?
