All Is Fair in Hate
The soft mind voice had called you and you answered. In a matter of seconds you were aware of the fact you were lying on the ground. You eyes snapped open to find a lion hovering next to your body. You weren't threaded with fear immediately, or at all for that matter. You knew better. This was your savior. It'd look bad on your part if you suddenly shrieked so loud it's ears hurt.
"Keiya." The lion smiled. At least you think it smiled. How could you be sure with a lion?
The lion was unlike any lion you had ever seen. His mane and the tuft of his tail were black, pitch black, while the rest of him was silver! Incredible! A silver lion! This would be one tell to your grandchildren! If you lived long enough to have grandchildren.
Your eyes roved over the feline body so well-muscled and shaped to perfection and to his eyes which stopped you in your tracks. They were silver too but that's not what stopped you. Oh, no. In those depths there was something so... so something that it alluded you. And then you succumbed to your searching.
It was like an explosion of images followed by the images being connected into a extremely long filmstrip. It surprised you so suddenly that you shrieked aloud and clamped your hands over your eyes only to discover the images came from your mind's eye and not from your regular ones.
"Daisuk!" You flung your arms around the great lion's neck and entwined your fingers through his silky obsidian mane, gasping as if you'd been drowning and just now been given a chance for air. "I remember! I remember it all! Oh gods!"
"There, there Keiya. All is well... except..." His deep voice faltered and you could feel his head turn.
You followed his eyes and found yourself staring, despite the evidence of the destroyed roots, a lump on the ground. Rella.
"Oh no, no, no! Rella, you poor dear!" You cried, scrambling over to the fallen body.
The old woman was growing cold and the life was leaving her face. There was still a hint of a hear beat but for all of it's beat, it was growing fainter. Tears stung your eyes as you stroked the silver curls away from the woman's face and cradled her body close to your own.
"Rella, Rella, Rella." You moaned, choking on more tears.
"There is still hope dearheart, but we must hurry. She may yet survive if we get her to the healers." Daisuk purred into your hair.
