The Black Citadel
With effort you manage to pull out and quickly read your Scroll of Summon. A sudden wind blows into the room extinguishing some of the altar candles and you remain laying on the cold floor. A second later you hear a screech that sounds unmistakably like a hell wraith, fierce specters that can rip the flesh from men's bones. The demonic sounding screeching suddenly stops and you hear the sound of ghostly wings beating the air followed by the screams from the terrified dark ones. You don't look up but for the next minute you hear the sound of cloth and flesh being ripped apart and then fading screams. When you look up again the hell wraith has already vanished, and where the dark ones stood a moment before, there now is only disjointed greyish limbs, blood, flesh and shredded cloth. Blood has also been sprayed all over the walls of the altar room.
You search the bloody bodies and find a *Scroll of Lightning Storm (Lv.3) and a *Scroll of Weaken (Lv.1). In front of the stone altar you notice a peculiar looking stone square. Now you remember you saw one just like this in a clearing in Darkwood. Though now some of the designs are hued with a peculiar blue light. From the looks of it, it looks like a portal. Vandil picks himself up, rubs his back and surveys the room.
"By the gods mage, I couldn't have done this even if I hacked at their bodies for an hour with my sword. What the hell was that thing?"
"A hell wraith, ferocious and unstoppable. I'm glad it was on our side, I never want bump into one of those in a dark cave."
Vandil suddenly eyes the stone portal on the ground and moves over towards it.
"Tell me, what kind of dark sorcery is this, I don'tÂ…"
"Back off Vandil!" you shout.
But it's too late. A bright flash lights up the room and Vandil is no longer there. You have no choice but to follow him to wherever he vanished to.
