Lara's debt

Lara nods slowly, masking her frustration. "Very well," she says smoothly. "If the law demands it, I will comply."She steps past the officials and walks out the grand front door. Cold rain instantly drenches her clothes as she steps into the dark, stormy night. Behind her, the heavy oak doors slam shut. The sound of the lock turning seals her out of her own home.Lara stands on the gravel driveway, shivering slightly but completely focused. She has absolutely nothing left—except the clothes on her back. However, she knows the layout of Croft Manor better than anyone. She remembers a weak point in the cellar security grid. If she acts quickly, she can break back inside, retrieve her father's journal from the library desk, and escape before the guards finish their initial sweep.
