And All Things Will End

You come upon a crossroads, with tunnels winding into three different directions. Each of these directions split into more pathways. The rock is coarser here, the path is not as well-maintained. You speculate that you must have walked past one of the main branches of the mine.

You and Aela look at Hunter as he studies the different paths. He returns your expectant gaze with a blank stare.

A rustling from the leftmost tunnel is heard. Footsteps shamble across the uneven surface, skin hardened like bone. Hunter shines the torch in that direction and a figure lurches into view.

It possesses the faintest hint of a man in the face and limbs, but is otherwise a different beast. Its arms have been forced upwards, nearly sprouting from where shoulders should be. They are sickeningly long, additional joints contorting and bending to allow them to fit in the passage. Hands grasp the top of the cave, and propel the creature along. It's legs protrude from its back like those of a grasshopper. The bones did not support this change, and jut out of the front in odd angles. The eyes have pupils that fit the entire width and spill out onto the face. The skin is pale.

Hunter is able to manage a single step backwards before the creature's jaw unlatches and it lets out a scream that sounds both like a human and a feral beast. It flails toward the group with surprising speed, using its arms and legs to carry it forward.

You are dimly aware of other, not entirely dissimilar howls coming from the other tunnels.
