Another Monday Morning
You measurably reach for the front of your shirt with one hand still on the mane of the Zebra. Your black armor parts like soft butter as you feel for your chest. Carefully and quickly you pull off the last three buttons and toss them with a mighty throw into the void of the causam
The Zebras jumps and you hold. One of the buttons turns a blazing white and fills up half the room with its brilliance. The other half is dark. One of the buttons turns black and holds back the light from the Voice. The buttons poised between the above and bellow form shield and a weapon. The light burns the dark redness as it deep red is reflected over and over until the cacophony of color causes it to retreat.
The third button form clear veil in between the two others. Into this the Zebra makes is flight and plunges through.
You hang there for more than an eternity and less than a second and then you are out. The Zebra, now Zebra in color and in mien slows and finally stops. It whinnies expectantly and you move to dismount. Once on the ground you turn. It is then that you realize that you and the Zebra are of the same kind. Neither Nightmare nor Unicorn; able to live between the two and survive them both.
You both turn and don't lack back, you toward you home and he away. As if in a dream you approach your house and your room. You find your bed and sleep as if you will never wake up, but you do.
Two days later your Mom stops by for a surprise visit. For reasons you don't really understand, you are overjoyed to see her. You feel as if you have slept for days and your dreams both strange and real.
You decide to take her for a walk and maybe to the zoo. After that you will enjoy a nice dinner and a bottle of wine at her favorite restaurant. On your way out your moms see your pajamas at the top of your hamper.
"What have you done to these poor things?" She exclaims, "Let me take this home and clean them up. Oh - and you need new buttons!"
You seem a bit surprised yourself about the buttons, but somehow it is ok and you smile!
