David stayed crouched behind his rock, watching as the lights approached slowly. His gun was light in his hands; technology had made it less than three pounds, but the machine gun was ten times as powerful as it had been five hundred years ago.
"Alright, everybody, here's the plan: Bernice, flank the squad to the left and move up behind. Morgan, follow her and provide cover until you're on the left. I'm going in from the right flank. David, you get to do the fun part."
"Roger," came Bernice's voice over the comm. Her white blip on the motion tracker started to move.
"Covering," Morgan said as she followed the CASE DM's reading for Bernice. She started to follow. Alex moved up on the right, crouching behind a tree.
"In position," came two responses.
"David, where the hell are you? Get your ass up to the front line and open fire on my mark."
"Roger," David moved up from his rock to a tree ten yards in front of it, keeping low to the ground. If the soldiers had seen his camoflauged form, it had obviously gone unheeded.
"Set targets...fire!" Alex jumped from behind his tree as a .50 caliber sniper rifle bullet slammed into one of the soldier's skulls. The quiet sound of Bernice's suppressed LC7 could barely be heard as David's twin machine guns swung down and opened fire at 1073 rounds per minute. Within seconds, the squad was dead.
"More bogeys on the way," Morgan said. "They heard the fire. What should we do?"
