The Thief of Alvera

You are woken up by a sharp nudge to your hip."Huh..uh". You stammer in your sleep.

"It's me Vin. I'm setting you free and then we can escape out of here."

A wave of relief and joy gushes through you."Oh goody. Quick, someone might see us"

"It takes time to do it silently. Now shut up and wait patiently."

"Fine, don't get all mad and irritated."

After a few minutes of impatient waiting, you are free atlast. Vin then proceeds to struggle with the door lock while you try to remove the nubnes from your hands and legs. After a few more moments you hear the door open with a slight click.

Vin opens the door slowly and turns to you."Quietly follow me." You tiptoe through the dark corridor, dirk in hand. You find your way to the empty central room unmolested. You find your bag in a corner and pick it up with relief. Just then you hear footsteps coming your way. You and Vin look at each other. Vin pulls his two daggers and hides in the shadow of a pillar. You hide behind Grald's scratched wooden throne-like chair, dirk in hand.

After waiting for a few endless seeming moments you poke your head out of your hiding place.

"No one's coming, let's move." Vin whispers.

You get up and follow him back the way you entered the cellar. You notice that there are two sentries in the room with the trap door.

"Nothing a dagger can't fix". Vin takes careful aim and throws his two daggers in quick suggestion, killing the unsuspecting guards immediately."Poisoned daggers, work like a charm. Stay down here. I'll go up and see if it's safe."

You hear Vin whisper a few moments later."Come up Reon, it's safe."

You climb out of the cellar and quickly make your way out of the hut.

"Let's go back to the inn and pick up our packs." Vin suggests."If they are still there that is."

"I'll have a knife through the innkeeper's heartif I see any evidence of mischief with our packs."

"And get into deeper shit than we already are in?"

"Oh I hadn't thought about that", you confess.

The streets are deserted save the guards and you have no trouble finding your way to the inn. You storm past a bewildered innkeeper to your room, only to find it empty. The innkeeper rushes to you as you comeback downstairs and informs you that your packs are in the store room. After recovering your packs, you mount your horses and move out of Prera.

You pause for a while to decide your further course. Vin peers at the map carefully with the light of a candle."Now that we are being chased, let's go northeast from here. We can turn west through a small pass in the Eston mountains right at the border of Eston and Aregor. It'll only be two day's journey from there to Tyranop."
