The Thief of Alvera

You decide to kill the magician first and ten tackle the other two. You open the door wider and hold your dirk by the blade and take quick aim at the man's neck and throw.

The dirk flies across the room and sinks down into the man's chest. The magician groans and clutches his chest. The dirk has done enough damage even if it didn't kill the magician. He falls down onto the floor, blood pouring out of the wound.

The men are surprised and don't react for a moment. You use this to your advantage and charge at them with your club.

The warriors get into battle stance hastily and one of the swings at you with his sabre. But it's too late, the club hits him on the face before the sabre connects with your body. One down, one more to go.

You quickly dodge the other man's poorly aimed swing. Your club is no match for the man's sabre. And to to your further disadvantage, you have no experience of hand-to-hand combat whereas your opponent is a trained warrior.

He makes another poor swing at you. The man is in panic and swinging wildly. You are certainly more composed than your opponent. You keep dodgind the man's swings, waiting for an opening. In his panic, the man knocks down the only burning torch. The corridor is totally dark and neither of you can see a thing. But your life on the streets has increased your adaptability to darkness. You recognize his position due to his panting almost immediately. Your opponent on the other hand, is taking longer to adapt to the dark. You aim for the man's head. You hear the crunching of bones as the club connects to the man's head. The man topples down onto the ground, knocked out by the blow.

"Andon! Andon! Open the door, it's me Reon!", you shout. You hear the clicking of the lock almost immediately and you see a calm, smiling Andon at the door.

He places his torch on the stand and looks around at the unconscious warriors.

"Marvellous job young man", he congratulates you. You notice that he is armed with a rapier and a small dagger himself.

"I was waiting for them to break in so that I could take them by surprise. But your coming saved me all the trouble.", he says with a grin.

He then draws his dagger and systematically stabs each of the three men in the heart.

"Now we don't have to worry about them anymore.", he says in his usual practical tone," Now get back to sleep, we will talk in the morning".

You are surprised at how calmly he is reacting to the whole situation. You retrieve your dirk and head back to the dungeons. You have no clue who these men are but something tells you that they have something to do with the jewel.
