The Villain Manifesto
You leap for the window instinctively, glad that the inn you're staying in makes its windows of naught but thin slats and colored paper - glass shards are a bit nasty in the skin. The stunned crossbowmen leap into action at your motion, but are a bit too slow on the draw... both their crossbow bolts missing you entirely.
You roll and hit the ground running. Fortunately, the crossbowmen aren't using repeater crossbows, and you have ample time to escape while they are busy reloading.
You find yourself in an alleyway, just around the corner from the room you've just escaped. There is a door ajar at the very far end of the alley, a sewer hole opening beneath a cart to your right, and then there are several barrels about your size (one of which is open, with the top beside it) to your left.
