You walk towards the springs. It is quite nearby, and you don't have to work your legs very hard to get there. You notice a girl bathing in the springs. You notice, for the first time, that it is a hotsprings. Why it would be out in the middle of the woods means that it must be natural, but you are unsure how a phenomenon occured without it being near a volcano.
