Hall of Infinite Doors
"Do you take me for a fool, monster?" you say. "If you want to kill me, do so now. But I will not be manipulated by the likes of you."
The man stares at you in disbelief. Then he sneers, "Your wish is my command."
You clutch your sword handle in both hands as you watch the young man change his form. He grows into an enormous, hairy beast, very much like a wolf. He stands on his hind legs, however, and his face looks stretched and boney, as if someone had just taken his skull and draped a thin layer of skin over it. Long, sharp fangs grow outwards from his protruding snout.
The monster charges so quickly that you had barely a chance to realize that he moved before he was on top of you. You lay on the ground, pinned by the monster, its foul breath breathing into your face.
Suddenly a wonderful thing happens. A swarm if black beetles flies in from the trees. The Vryloka pauses for a moment and looks upwards at them. That was his mistake. A large, black insect lands right on his eyes and sinks a stinger into his eyeball. The Vryloka roars in pain, leaps upward and clutches his eye.
It is only a few moments before the beast lies dead on the ground.
Several other beasts materialize from out of the shadows and rush towards you, their fangs barred and their mouths open abnormally wide. But they are soon met by the rushing swarm of beetles, who dive and sting the Vrylokas until all but one are dead. The last one manages to escape, fleeing into the darkness.
