Hall of Infinite Doors

You stand pressed against the tree trunk, hoping that the beetles don't decide to make you their final target. Most of the creatures, however, fly down towards the dead bodies of the Vrylokas and begin to feed like a swarm of buzzing flies. You grimace in disgust. You notice a single beetle flying lazily towards you.

"Sorry I took so long," the beetle clacks, "I almost forgot what I was trying to do."

"You... you saved my life." you say, breaking into a smile.

"It was nothing," the bug shrugs (somehow), "Besides, my colony was hungry."

"Can I do anything for you?" you say, "Anything at all?"

"What I need you to do is get out of here as quickly as you can," the bug clicks, "When you leave us, I fear that our minds will return to whatever state they were once in, and we may choose you for another meal. So make sure you get as far away from us as you can as quickly as you can." The bug lifts one small leg and points, "And if you are wanting to go to the village, its that way. Keep head that-a-ways until you come across a path. It will lead you straight there."

"Thank you so much," you say gratefully. Picking up your sword and sheathing it, you wave to the swarm of beetles (feelings slightly ridiculous) and begin to walk away.

"Remember!" the beetle calls to you, "Don't dawdle!"

You break out into a run.
