Lost in a Good Book- A Child's Tale

The cute bear on the front of the book caught her eye. It wasn't much of an upgrade from the little kid books she had read yesterday, but Rebecca couldn't resist the fellow in the little green jumper.

She opened the cover, and flipped to page one. The bear was on a little shelf surrounded by other toys. She felt the now familiar pull at her belly and quicker than she could say "snap dragon" she was thrust into the scene in the book.

The toys all looked at her with blank eyes. They were huge, for a moment, they all remained very still, as if analyzing her. Then apparently deciding that she too was a toy, they began to talk all at once. It reminded her a lot of Toy Story. The little bear she had seen on the cover was looking at his woefully damaged coverall.

Rebecca walked over to him to start a conversation, but suddenly all the toys stopped moving. Rebecca looked over her shoulder to see a small point of light growing closer, and closer. She decided that it would be appropriate to stay frozen with the others.

Rebecca stayed so still for so long she must have fallen asleep. The next moment of awareness for her occurred when she discovered people scampering about all around her. She tried not to move as she watched children ransack the shelves, and she cringed when one of the fragile dolls she had noticed the night before hit the floor hard enough to shatter.

Carefully Rebecca moved back away from the ledge, she didn't want to shatter next after all. A little girl stood examining her, and Rebecca froze. Had she been busted? She tried to look like a very un-cool toy. The little girl looked past her, and grabbed the bear that had been so sad about his damage. Rebecca tried to move to the back again, but she felt the pull that would send her back to the real world.
