Another Monday Morning

You break the door and enter the long abandoned Kohl's Department Store. It is pitch black in here except for some weird blue floating swirl in the center of the room. You determine that it must be a portal of some kind. You walk up closer and see that it is controlled by a machine, which has controls on it. The controls are set according to dates. You have stumbled across a TIME MACHINE!!!!! Of course, you're anxious to try it out. Then you think for a moment. Should you set it for a distant time in the past or future and throw the dead body through the portal? It'd sure make somebody in some time freak out.
