You are greeted on the bus by Drill Sergeant who welcomes you into the next three months of hell. Boot camp is overwhelmingly exhausting. The physical demands followed by the verbal abuse in attempts to separate and break down the ones who can't hang.

Thirty one recruits make up your platoon. You meet one recruit who you seem to always be pared up with, Recruit Jason O'Neil. You and Jason become best friends as you are often caught talking about girls back home and sent to do push ups in the middle of the squad bay. You and Jason are never seen apart which the Drill Sergeant nicknames you both Calvin and Hobbs.

After the several months of training in everything from shining boots to firing a rifle you are finally graduate Boot Camp. Several recruits, now Private First Class, are greeted and congratulated by their parents. As expect no one from your family is present. You hang with Jason and his family warmly welcomes you.

Upon graduation you are given your assignments of your next duty station. Where you are to report in one week from graduation. You compare your orders with Jason thinking this will be your final farewell, but are surprised to see that you are both assigned to the same Rifle Infantry Company in North Carolina.

You shake Jason's hand and tell him you will meet him at the next duty station in North Carolina. You board the bus and head back home for the week until you are to report back to your next duty station.
