Legend

You crawl into tall reeds and find a less obvious place to watch from. So far nothing has been going on except a repetitive drum beat, some weird dancing and a lot of Lizards get excited over something. The prisoners look appropriately frightened. Soon another Lizard comes down the path you came from. This one also has an elaborate head dress but carries a staff. Probably a shaman. He goes to the statue, makes a few gestures and then gets one of the prisoners. The young girl screams and tries to pull away, but it's useless, they have every intention of sacrificing her and probably the rest of them as well. You can't really do too much to save anyone if you were inclined to do so, there's simply too many, it would be suicide. And you still have to figure out how to get the gem.

As a couple of the other Lizard men hold her, while the Chieftain supervises. The Shaman chants and brandishes a sharp weapon that looks like a big tooth of some animal. The drum beat gets louder and hypnotic, in fact you notice a glaze has come over the drummers, its almost as if they aren't even aware of there surroundings anymore, a big dragonfly just crashed into the back of one of their heads and the drummer didn't even miss a beat. The dancers are equally mesmerized. The sky is starting to grow darker as well.

Obviously SOMETHING is going on. Strong magic is at work here. If you're going to act, you better do it NOW.

You can either try to grab the gem while most of the Lizard men are entranced in this ritual they're involved in or if you have some sort of musical instrument, you could disrupt the beat they have going.
