Brothers

You knock on the door and hear him scrambling around, spraying aerosol and obviously hiding the stuff. Eventually he answers the door and you let yourself in.

You talk with him about what he's doing. He assures you that pot is a non addictive substance. It gets him high and he likes the way it feels. Through further discussion you learn that sometimes he does it just for shits and giggles, and sometimes he does it to escape. He assures you that he won't try anything heavy, and you advise him to be more discreet in his use of the substance as it is not legal. You leave his room feeling good that the communication line is wide open between the two of you, and assured that he won't be trying anything heavy.

Marijuana is not addictive, and aside from the health hazards associated with inhaling anything that is not oxygen, it is a relatively safe drug. Certainly safer than caffeine, tobacco, and alcohol which are all legal.

A few months later you get a part time job working in a phone center where you do a decent job convincing people to buy things they don't really need. They're talking about promoting you when you graduate next year.

Gwen gets to know you better and the two of you become very close and intimate. You are madly in love with her, and she seems to feel the same for you. The two of you date through high school.

Towards the end of the next year, you receive a few offers from a few colleges asking you to attend. Some of them look promising, but you would have to move away from home to attend. Gwen doesn't want you to leave her, and you don't want to leave her or leave your brothers with a drunken father and absent mother, but the education can really prepare you for your future.

On the other hand, the job you have is ready to promote you when you graduate high school next month. Maybe you can move up the corporate ladder.
