The Ninja Epidemic
You charge on across the street, past the cruiser and past James' house. You continue along the sidewalk, rounding the bend which brings you to your street. Your house isn't far away.
The cruiser pulls up along side of you and flashes it's lights. You look at the officer like he's an idiot. He flashes his lights again.
"What are you, pulling me over?" You ask him incredulously.
"Yeah." He says. "Stop running."
You comply and stop your mad dash. Hands on your knees, you take this opportunity to catch your breath.
"What are you running for?" He asks.
Is this dude serious?! He's stopping you for running!! "Is that a crime now?" You ask.
"Not running, no. But jaywalking is." He says. "There was no cross walk back there."
Small town cops! You look around in frustration. As you do so, you notice that the ninjas are nowhere to be seen. Maybe they decided to leave because of the cop. Of course, they are ninjas, maybe they're there and you just cant see them. Either way you find yourself dreaming about one of them sticking its katana blade through this idiots skull.
He's been lecturing you this whole time about the dangers of jaywalking and respect for the law. You cant realy say that you've heard more than a few words of it, you're just nodding along and agreeing with whatever the hell he's been saying. Finaly, his speech ends with a single word; "Understood?" He asks.
You nod. "Hey, I heard doughnuts are half off today at the All-Night."
His face twists into momentary rage and his voice raises to a pitch that could shatter glass. "You have a real attitude problem, you know that?!"
"I am aware." You reply.
"Im going to be keeping an eye on you. Everywhere you go, everything you do, I'll be there watching! You hear me?! You won't be able to fart without me taking note!!"
"Alright," You say, "I guess I'll see you around then." And you start to walk towards your house again. The cruisers wheels peel out and he flies past you, fishtailing at first.
"Yeah, hurry." You say aloud. "That sale won't last forever."
You're just a few houses from your own. You look around and dont see any ninjas. It looks like your conversation with the police scared them off. Apparently they dont know these cops.
You walk the rest of the way, breathing a bit more easily now. You step into the house and close the door behind you. You lean against the door for a moment and let out a sigh of relief. Home at last. Safe.
Now that you can relax a bit, your headache rears it's ugly head again. You need some asprin. All your asprin is in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom.
As you get the asprin from behind the mirror you notice a shadow-like form drop from the cieling to land between the tub and the wall. What was it? Do you go over and investigate or get the hell out of there?
