Verisimilivirate

You follow the South path for what seems like only a short while before you come to what seems to be a deserted cottage. Just then, from the top of a hill to the northwest, you spy a rider headed toward the cottage. It is a man wearing a blue hooded cloak, who appears slightly miffed (whether at the thought of this shepherd/pauper now at his door, or for some other reason you cannot tell). He notices you, but does not quicken his pace, and rather calmly approaches you.

He trots to you until you are on his left side and then clears his throat.
