Thinking as quickly as you can, you focus on controlling the man's emotions, so that he sees you as a long-time friend. His visage changes immediately, as he dismounts and extends his hand for you to shake, rather than take the zappy end of.
"Weenaya gahYOO sah GLODEN, boyah!" he says, laughing, putting his arm around you, and directing you to his cottage in the distance. You can only hope he said something like he's got clothes for you back at the house, but he mounts up again and trots toward the house as you walk by his horse's side.
