Reservoir

"I say we explore the carnival section."

The three of them started to walk in that direction. The carnival section of the park was further away from our meeting spot, so we would have to walk for a little while. The carnival section had a Old West theme to it, which was fun. There were many games you usually found at carnivals.

"Let's do the balloon poppin' game." Priyan suggested

We did the balloon popping game like Priyan suggested. After we did a few rounds, we moved on to the tossing game. It was a game where you threw rings in a goal. Jesse threw a ring to me, and I tossed it to Priyan. We went back to back to toss the ring to the other. As we kept tossing the ring, Rex walked up to us.

"I know why you're doing this," he said, "You came here for me, didn't you?"

I looked at him. I had no idea what he was talking about. I looked at Jesse. I looked at Priyan. They both looked at me. I looked at the ground.

"We didn't," Jesse said.

"Okay," Rex said. He kept talking, but I couldn't hear him.

I just walked away. I walked alone. I walked alone in a sea of happy, laughing people. I walked to a small bench. It had a small tree next to it. I sat down on the bench to think. The sun was shining. A few people walked past me. I sat there for a few minutes. I just sat there, my tail resting on top of the bench.
I sighed. I felt...something. A lot of feelings. I closed my eyes to think. I thought about my friends. I couldn't just forget about them. Not after everything they had done for me. I had gone through a lot with them. I knew them well enough to know that they would never lie to me. Yet I still wondered. I got up from the bench.

I walked back to Jesse, Priyan, and Rex. I sat down next to them. I didn't want to talk. I...just couldn't. I was too busy thinking. "How did you know we came here for you?" I asked. "That's kind of a personal question." Rex said. "Because you guys told me," I replied. I sighed. I felt exhausted.

We spent the rest of the day in the park. We rode all the rides that we wanted to.
We went to see some shows at the stage to end the day off. We all took a seat. I sat with Jesse, Priyan, and Rex. We watched the show in silence. It was nice. We just enjoyed the show. I had gotten pretty tired from watching the show. I fell asleep on Jesse's shoulder.

Everything goes dark, there is nothing to see. I try to feel around for something, but to no avail. I never was able to feel for my eyes. I don't know what happened to me. All I know is, I have to keep running. I don't know why, but I have to keep running. Surely, I will find out the truth if I do. I just need to keep running. My body grows weak, but I have to keep going. I'm tired, and I'm hungry. I can't stop to rest. I just have to keep going.
I hear a soft lullaby. I start to feel sleepy. The lullaby makes me feel sleepy. I want to... rest. I want to... stop running. But I can't. I must keep going. I must find out what really happened. The voice singing sounds familiar. It sounds like...

I wake up. It was only a dream. I'm still at Southwest Adventures, watching shows at the stage. I rub my eyes, recollecting myself back into reality.

"Hey, you're awake." Jesse says,

"Yea, I was just... having a dream." I replied.

"What was it about?" He asked.

I thought about it for a second. "I don't know. It was so long ago. I just remember that I had to keep running." I said.

"Well, the shows are over. You ready to go home?" Jesse asked.

"You bet." I replied.

We all got up and left the park.

We were just a few miles outside of Echo.

"So... about that dream..." Jesse asked

I looked at him, "Best you don't ask about it. I don't have an answer."

Jesse nodded, and the conversation ended. I looked out the window at the bland, desert scenery. I looked out the window at the bland, desert scenery. My vision slowed down, and I saw a car, stuck in a ditch. It was red.

"Hey guys, I just saw a car stuck in a ditch."

Everyone turned to look.

"Oh." Rex said

"I think we should help whoever's in there."

Everyone agreed. Jesse pulled over and parked his truck. We all got out and ran over to the stranded car. The closer we got to the car, the more detail we notice to the accident. There was a larged bloodstain on the driver's seat window.
The engine was run down, and it looked like the car had been here a while.

"What do you think happened?" Priyan asked.

"I'm thinking the car was in the ditch for a while, and nobody wanted to help until we showed up." I said. Rex opened the door to the car and looked inside "Hello! Are you okay!"

What we found, was much worse than we thought. It was a coyote, not just any coyote, but my boss for the local paper. He was dead. In his paw, was a small handgun that looked already used. All of us just stood in shock, unable to take in what we were seeing at that moment. Jesse took out his phone to call the police about what might've happened.

"We should probably get back to the motel." Priyan said

"Yeah. I'll deal with this one." Jesse said

Priyan and Rex began walking back to the motel by foot. I stood still, thinking about whether I should help Rex and Priyan get back to the motel, or stay with Jesse and talk to the police with him.
