Just an Ordinary Day in the Life of an Ordinary Girl

With a last effort you try and reach the dark area. You feel an undescribable feeling of relief coming over you when you feel wind on your face and air flowing into your lungs again. All the energy is drained from your body and you are pulled back into the water again.
A moment later, however, you feel a strong arm around your waist pull you up again. The next thing you know you are lying in the sand and start coughing horribly. Zack is kneeled beside you and helps you up.

After a few minutes your throat still hurts terribly and you feel so very tired, but other than that you feel okay. Zack on the other hand doesn't look so okay, although he's doing his best to cover it with his right arm.
"Let me see," you softly say.
"No, it's nothing."
"I said let me see," you now say somewhat harshly and force him to take away the arm he keeps pushed against his chest. He's bleeding, and not just a little.

You come running back from your car with a first aid kit that you always keep in the car in case of emergency. The bandage is not nearly long enough to wrap it around Zack's body more than three times, but it'll have to do.
"It were those damned rocks," Zack explains when you caringly help him stand up after having applied the bandage. "I searched the area for you when I saw you disappear in the water. I was lucky to see you come up the surface for a moment so I knew where to look."
Pain is written across his face, now only lit by the last bit of fire of the setting sun. It's a beautiful sight, if it weren't for the pain part.
"Sshht, don't talk," you order him.
"Okay," he whispers, then bends over and kisses you tenderly.
