Another Monday Morning

Melanie is wearing a short black dress with large buttons down the front--something sure to garner attention. You don your best conservative blue suit. You then head down to the cocktail function. Both of you are on an empty stomach. Few people are there, so you grab a few cheeses and crackers, though you don't want to carry around a plate of those while you meet people. When the people on the Board of Bigfirm start to arrive, you head over to the bar. You order a Black Russian. Melanie asks for a cranberry juice.

"Cranberry juice?" you ask.

"I'm on an empty stomach," she pleads.

"It's a cocktail party," you remind. "What will they think?"
