You approach one of the people. All of them look all washed out and gray, like the newspaper on your -Newspaper Outfit-, but less interesting. You try to show the person, a woman, your outfit and get her engaged, but she just looks at you a moment, then looks at your wrist where your ribbon is, and starts walking away.

What a debbie downer! That was quite rude of her, was it not? All the people here are like that, and it does get to be quite frustrating. You've tried everything, but never dared to really invade their personal space, like poke one or try and remove one of the ribbons they all have tied to their wrists just like yours.
