The Galactic Adventures of Pierce Darkblade

Solitaire, despite having alien features, seems to have a smirk on his face. He smiles more as you realize this.

An idea begins formulating in your head. Solitaire lets out a burping noise that you can only assume is a chuckle. You ask him, "Can you shape-shift then, if you are truly as omni-powerful as you claim to be?"

Solitaire has begun laughing harder now, his grotesque head forming ripples like water each time he jerks his head in his odd way of laughing. "You weren't fired, Captain Darkblade."

You hear murmurs coming from your crew. From within your brain-microchip implant, you receive an email from Supreme Commander Rosco. He is asking you for a status update on your mission on planet Freevus.

Solitaire frowns. "What are you doing?" it asks. Before you can think more on the topic of your mission, you blank it out of your mind. It's fortunate that you were required to do mind training with the Iquaan monks on their planet, Iquaast.

Once again, your crew is dead silent. They all have no idea how you made Solitaire so concerned.

You divert some of your thoughts into the microchip brain implant, and begin thinking with the limited capacity it offers. Solitaire makes no reaction. You realize that you must think something, or Solitaire will get suspicious. Your crew is also getting jumpy. Several seconds have gone by in silence. Once again, your Iquaan monk training has come in handy. You are able to think clearly about the Solitaire situation without the slightest thought about your budding plan with your microchip.

Within the chip's limited computing space, you think out the logic simultaneously as thinking along a completely separate train of thought in your biological brain. The chip is far too small for any heavy-duty thinking. The technology is very new, and this implant is just a few weeks old, and as far as you know you are the lowest rank person that has one, which means that only about fifty other humans have one. The technology, developed by humans, has not spread yet to be compatible with the different brain-types of other species. So far, the microchip is about as powerful as a graphing calculator from the primitive earth, approximately early in the twenty-first century after the apparent birth of a messiah man of a religion you can barely remember. You should have paid more attention in the history of Earth class. Anyway, the chip is meant for mostly email processing.

If you make a plan, you will only be able to outline one, and a simple one at that.

In the mean time, your biological brain is stumped on how to get rid of Solitaire, even temporarily. You decide once again to give him radio silence via your Iquaan skills. Solitaire looks annoyed, then blinks out of existence.

"ohhhh" you groan. You realize he has gone to obliterate Iquaast. He heard you think about it.

You think about emailing the Supreme Commander Rosco.
