Mystic Elevator

The Great Escape -or- The fuck out of Dodge

Sticking around while they plot to kill you would be stupid, you realize. You stand up, mutter something about getting some coffee, and take two strides to the door. The moment you leave the office, you start running for the exit. You bump into a woman who is carrying a stack of papers, spilling them every where. The office is a bit lengthy, and lined with a maze of large cubicles.

You push open the double glass doors when you hear Michael call you from the far end of the office. Not looking back, you head through the exit and find yourself before the two closed elevator doors. You don't know why the hell you expected one to be there waiting for you. They are broken, you remind yourself. You'll have to take the stairs. They are located on the other side of the office, near the smokers lounge.

A quick turn around and a couple steps and you are back on the floor, the cubicle labyrinth between you and the stairs. In this labyrinth are two people trying to kill you.

You spot Michael right away, heading straight for you down the main aisle. He has a hungry and furious gaze fixed on you. He will be on you in moments.
Thinking quickly, you step on one of the empty office chairs nearby, stepping up onto the desk before the chair has a chance to start swiveling.

Another step puts you on the edge of the divider wall and you step down to the desk in the same fashion you stepped up from the other one. You hop the desk and onto the floor, skipping the chair because it is occupied.

"You put a shoe print on my report!" the worker calls from her desk.

Michael turns around in the main aisle and attempts to take another path to intercept you. You have bought yourself some time with that move. The stairs are soon within sight and just a few turns away.

You pass the last desk. The stairs are back here, a few feet from the roof exit, and across the hall from the break room. You break into a run and head for the stairs.

You throw a glance at the break room as you run and see a door in the corner where no door has ever been. Then you remember it, the little room to the Mystic Elevator. The Mystic Elevator is still running, and you somehow know that Michael does not know about its existence. The elevator chooses you.
