Brothers

"Well," you say after some pause, "Why don't we get an apartment together?"

She doesn't answer at first and you begin to worry that she doesn't want to stay with you, that this was just a convenient excuse to break up. But then she smiles.

"Do you really mean it?" She asks.

"Yes, of course," you tell her.

"Do you think we're ready for this?" She asks.

"I can't live without you," you say.

She smiles even more and nods. "Okay," she says. "I'll go to the local college, the student loans should help us with the rent..."

"We'll start looking tomorrow," you tell her.

The rest of the dinner is magical. The food is excellent, the bill rediculously expensive, there's a sort of light in the air. You make love in the back seat of your car before you drop her off at home.

After a few days of searching you find an small apartment in a town nearby, conventiently close to work. It's a little run down, but the rent is affordable and you have all that you need to get by in Gwen. She takes on a part time job for the summer to help out financially before she starts college at the end of the sumer.

Things are going great.

College starts and Gwen goes off to school, leaving most of the financial burdens your responsibility. The student loans help a little, but most of that money is used for books and supplies and gas money... You buy some food with it as well. You work overtime as often as possible and save up your money.

Fortunately you live two streets over from where you work, so you are able to walk there everyday so that Gwen can take the car to school.

One day you come home from work to find your girlfriend sitting on the couch crying.

"What's wrong," you ask.

"I'm pregnant, Paul," she tells you.

Shit. This isn't exactly something you can afford. And though you had no intention of spending your life without Gwen, this sort of seals the deal doesn't it? You're not even married yet.

Should you just marry her? Or is that stupid? Maybe you should abort... Is it too late for that? Is that immoral?

She's looking at you with those big beautiful doe eyes of hers just waiting for your response.

"Wow," you say, stalling.

What do you tell her?
