Chaz woke up on a warm and sunny Thursday morning, reflecting on his twenty-two years of existence on this planet, and how mediocre he felt about each one of them. His life seemed rather ordinary, and certainly not all that exciting. He also thought of how the British referred to the type of living area he presently occupied with the word "flat", and couldn't understand why anyone would consider a three dimensional apartment "flat." Perhaps he was thinking too literally about the terminological usages, in the same way that when he thought about his skin tone that it was never really the same precise color as a white sheet of paper, and yet how ironically "white" is the choice he found himself reluctantly agreeing with on job applications. Chaz generally considered himself to be a logical thinker in an illogical world. Yet, logic could not help him with what was already occurring, without his knowledge of the matter. Beginning this very day, every choice he was making was taking him along the pathway to a mysterious side of the universe, in which each decision, no matter how big or small, would impact every aspect of his life in the most adventurous of ways.

This particular Thursday, April 4th, 2019 was that start of that adventure. He yawned and stretched, scratched the scalp beneath his fine brown hair, then stood up and made his way to the closet. He set out three separate outfits to decide between. The first outfit he set out was a relatively new black Adidas baseball style cap, a brand new black Adidas T-shirt with the white Adidas logo, a new pair of expensive faded jeans and a brand new pair of black and white Converse All Star sneakers, or as he recalled what the British might say, trainers. He also had a new black belt that would go with this outfit, but his room was too messy to know exactly where to find it. The second outfit he set out was a white T-shirt, an old Flannel shirt, to go over it, an old white baseball style cap, and an old pair of a generic brand of sneakers, or was it trainers. With the second outfit he would normally wear a gold necklace of a cross, if he could find the necklace at all in what could only rightly be classified as "the messiest room known to mankind." The third outfit Chaz set out was a simple brown pair of shorts, a brown polo shirt, a pair of brown socks, and a pair of brown sneakers. When he typically wore the final plain brown outfit, he would usually not wear a hat at all, but spike up his fine brown hair with hair gel. Yet, he could not remember if he had bought any hair gel lately.
