Coitus Machina

You resume functionality slowly, your eyes are open but your vision is dim and blurry; your audio receptors are picking up sound but everything is muffled and distant.

You realize that two women are talking. One is your master... Alice. The other sounds older, and meaner.

"-going to have to take him," are the first words you hear clearly, the deep voice of the stout older woman. She looks vaguely familiar to you.

"Isn't there a patch for this sort of thing?" Alice asks the woman.

"I'm sorry, no." The older woman takes a deep breath. She's the inspector, you realize. "There are too many risks," she says

Your master glances your way. You remain perfectly still; in mock power down mode. You are certain that neither of them is aware that you've powered up yet. "I trust I'll be compensated?" Alice asks.

The older woman lets out a grunt. "That's not up to me, miss," she says. "If it's still under warranty you'll be fine."

"And if not?" Alice asks.

"Then you'll have to talk to someone at headquarters," Inspector Salvos replies. "Look," she says; holding a hand out. "I can't officially comment on anything for legal reasons. But in all likelihood, with the amount of bad press this has been pulling in; you'll be taken care of."

There is a brief period of silence. "What's wrong with it, anyway?" Alice asks.

"I"m not allowed to comment on that," she says. "But everything I've heard is hearsay and ridiculous."

"Whose going to cook my dinner?" Alice asks.

The fat woman laughs. "I recommend eating out tonight," she says. "I'm going to call in a pick up for your bot. They should arrive within ten minutes. Your bot is shut down from the motherboard, so he will remain powered down until he is manually powered back up."

But you're already powered back up. Maybe there's a chance you can escape.
