you go at the first zombie with the machete and get a good clean shot but you are unable to kill the second one he chases you so you decide to go back to retreat back to the house. the zombie is banging and scratching at the door its distracted at the moment and you feel the gun may not be that important

You have 5 choices:

try to circle back while he is distracted at the door
ignore the gun and try to get to the car at the curb
go back to sleep
try to attack the zombie again head on
panic and start blockading yourself in your house
