The Galactic Adventures of Pierce Darkblade
You wad up a nice loogie in your throat and let loose a nice spit wad, directly splattering the Freevian child in his slitted orange eye. He begins to cry, sobbing, falling to his knees in shame. The defense minister laughs at this vagabonds sorrow as you turn and continue on your way.
You and the defense minister near the great obelisk of Freevus, quite an acheivement you think, as it is absolutley massive. The obelisk towers higher then anything else in the city. Now that you are next to it you can see the great pointed tower has carvings, hieroglyphs carved all over it. They seem to tell a story. You ask the Defense minister about this. He beams with pride as he must be very knowledgable about this.
"This great obelisk is a memorial to the founder and savior of our planet, the great Freevo! Our world was once a lush garden planet, a variety of flora and fauana thrived here..." Interesting you think. The weather of Freevus has long been considered a strange anomaly considering its position to the sun.
"...Freevo discovered this planet millenia ago and decided that his species must all come and live here forever! Freevo was most wise and was elected high king for life, as Freevo through his good deeds was awarded immortality by the gods of peace. But Freevo's brother Jeervo, grew jealous for he was tired of all the praise his brother received. Jeervo began to study the dark magic and began worshipping the gods of chaos. He became a disciple of them and was given great powers of evil." The Minister pauses, looking up at the obelisk. You lean against a stone railing, becoming increasingly interested in the Freevians story.
"He proclaimed to the people to make him king and banish Freevo to the wastelands, but the people refused to be forced to be ruled over by Jeervo. In retaliation Jeervo summoned eternal flames to consume the planet in fire for eternity. As people fled from the spreading fires, Freevo pleaded to the gods of peace to give him a weapon against his brother. They told him that the spell of Jeervo had already been cast and could never be undone, but it could be covered if Freevo made the ultimate sacrifice. The gods forged mighty holy gloves of winter which contained all the elemental powers of snow, ice and cold. Because Freevo was so strong he made the gloves even more powerful and thrusted his fists into the ground and froze over the entire planet, creating the wintry setting of present day Freevus. Because the curse cast by Jeervo was eternal, so must Freevo remain with his fists in place in the same spot forever. If he ever moves, the flames of Jeervo will rise again to consume our world. Freevo loved his people so much he made the sacrifice of an eternity frozen and alone." The minister breathes a satisfied sigh, content with his retelling of this Freevian myth.
"Amazing...What happened to Jeervo?"
"Jeervo was near when Freevo thursted the gloves into the ground. Freevo targeted Jeervo specifically and was the only life form Freevo killed. He is still frozen in the Ice Temple of Freevo."
That sparks your interest, you love exploring historical places.
"There is a temple where all this apparently occurred?" You ask inquisitivley.
"It is believed to be located in the mountains south of the capital city, but the temple has remained hidden for thousands of years. Many have searched for it but have never returned."
"Any sort of mystical treasures inside this temple?" You ask, grinning.
"As a matter of fact yes. There is a legend that states that anyone who enters the temple and finds the immortal Freevo may have the second glove."
"Doesn't he need both to fight back the flames?"
"No, he requested two to one day give to a worthy warrior, so that he may go out on his own adventures helping people with the glove of Freevo."
"But...oh my Captain we have been talking about myths and legends for so long the council is going to think we got lost! We should head to the council chamber now to discuss the current crisis plaguing our world."
You start to head to the council chamber with the defense minister, but you look back at the obelisk. The stories of the past seem to be calling to you....begging to be opened again to start a new chapter...
