Jezirea stopped, took a deep breath, and whirled towards the strange man.
"Why are you following me?" she asked between grit teeth. She stared him down, while he stared innocently back.
After a moment he spoke, as if realizing she was not going to let his silence go this time. "You're going to town are you not? I was in that tomb for so long I've lost my bearings, and had hoped you could lead me."
She deflated a little. That was a perfectly harmless and reasonable explanation, but she still didn't know if she could trust him.
