The Galactic Adventures of Pierce Darkblade

"Lt. Mason, set a course for the trade station! We need some hefty credits to explore the galaxy!"

Lt. Mason nods with your decision and sets a course to the trade station orbiting Volturb 3.

You do some quick research on your datapad computer on the Volturb system to make sure you are not making a hasty move. You learn that the Volturb system has only two habitable planets, Volturb 1 and Freevus and that there are only two races, the Volturbs and the Freevians. While the Freevians are tall, reptile like skinned beings with large slitted orange eyes; the Volturb are short stocky beings with a hard shell like skin. They are distinctive because they have no nose or visible ears and are colored 50% red and 50% white, sometimes in different patterns across their body. Their most potent feature though is that upon death, Voltorbs explode in a fiery blaze.

Besides the physical characteristics of the races you read up on their history as the Pachyderm approaches the trade station. You learn that the Volturbs are a spacefaring people who have expanded and colonized other nearby systems. The Volturbs never attempted to conquer Freevus because the planet has no known resources, it is just a frozen world. Lucky break for the Freevians in a way that their planet is a cold blight in the eyes of the Volturbs, you ponder.

The Volturbs built the trade station orbiting Volturb 3 somewhat as a means of defense against other civilizations. The Volturbs seem to be isolationists and do not desire any other race coming to their homeworld. Yet they desired to trade with other species so they built the trade station as sort of a neutral zone and means of communicating with other races. You don't know how useful any of this information may be, but you are glad you read up on it.

"We have reached the Volturb trading station Captain" Your second in command, Commander Fraglon reports.

"Excellent. Find a suitable landing zone for the Pachyderm and get a team ready to transport our goods to sell."

The Pachyderm lands in a large "parking zone" for the bigger ships. This zone resides on a massive arm jutting out from the trade station. It is one of many for the station. The Pachyderm passes through a "space shield" which protects people walking around the parking area not to die from lack of oxygen but still be able to look around and take in the beauty of open space overlooking a large molten planet. The view is quite spectacular.

The Pachyderm lands near the edge of the massive platform inbetween what you believe to be a Septon war vessel and a smugglers frigate.

You walk down the ships ramp to the outside parking zone and witness many other ships landing and taking off, various species walking toward the merchant areas and Volturb station workers helping ships land in specific areas with bright light staffs.

Your team will still be awhile loading all the goods onto heavy repulsor lifts to transport to the merchant area so you have some time to kill it seems.
