The Island of Destiny

Yes, you are still in the desert. But now under much more horrific circumstances. As you look around you (for looking is the only thing you can do, the rest of your body is bound by ropes) you see that you are being suspended on a pillar more than fifty feet high! As you gaze below you with a deathly grimace, you see a green pool about thirty feet in diameter below you. It strikes your curiosity what makes the water that sea green color but you don't spend much time worrying about it.

In front of you on a cliff ledge stand about twenty figures all wearing dark clothing and hoods. The ones who don't wear hoods don grotesque masks so that from this group you cannot see the face of a single one of them. They stand amongst a set of pillars, some fallen and some crumbled. Wherever you are, this is a very old place.

A dark figure then strides to the left until he is out of your range of view. A moment later, a ring of fire lights up about ten feet away from you and although it is a think strip of flame, it encircles you as it continuously starts to revolve. You look around for Sabrina but she is nowhere to be seen. The sun in the distance is a red massive ball and your instincts tell you that this is not the sun you are used to seeing every day. This is...a different one, something very alien.

Then one of the dark men approaches some sort of stone podium and faces you directly. When he speaks, his voice is surprisingly clear to you despite the fact that you are so far away from him.

"Chosen one!" he says loudly. "We are so glad that you have finally made it here. We were beginning to worry that you would be killed beforehand."

"So, what do you call this?" you shout back. "Were you just waiting to kill me all this time?"

"Maybe yes, maybe no," he answers, not really answering at all. "All that matters now is that you prove yourself to us."

"And how will I go about doing that?"

"Through a series of four tests. This is the first one. Your goal...is to get where you need to be before the flames engulf you. Good luck, chosen fool."

You look around you once more, noticing that the flames on the revolving ring are larger now than they were. You look back towards the man about to ask how the hell he expects you to work your way out of this mess, until you see to your surprise that he is nowhere to be seen. None of the dark men are anymore and once the realization begins to settle in that you really are completely alone, you begin to experience a new kind of terror. This fear is so real, so immediate, that this feeling itself fills you with a second rush of horror.

What can you do?
