The Island of Destiny

As you begin your long ascent up this majestic golden staircase, only one thing is clear to you: There is no way that this is real. You don't really remember whether you started thinking this way when you woke up on the freaky deserted island...or when you met the shark that could talk to you and lead you on a wacky ride through oxygen water. At least...you were breathing oxygen right? You can't even hardly guess, let alone think about it anymore. All that you can do now is continue to climb up this golden set of stairs, the prospect at the top being to find out your "destiny".

As you walk, you can't help but gaze around you at the palace walls. Not just this staircase is gold, it seems that practically everything is! Great golden statues loom in front of you, depicting people and events from a time that must've been forgotten by history. You can't help but notice that there are great window spaces present, and through them you can gaze right out into the deep blue ocean depths. Reaffirming this sight makes you wonder another wracking thought: Just what kind of people could build an underwater palace? Was this palace at one point on land? Was it even built by people?

Now finally, you sense that you are in the throes of reaching the top. You feel your heart start to beat faster and a gripping anticipation comes over you. You feel that you are getting close to some answers..you just KNOW you are.

You step off the last stair and before you lies an incredible sight. Before you is a bronzed carpet and it leads straight to a large, golden throne. On this seat sits a bearded man, dressed in a gold and silver robe, a man whom at first you almost mistaken for being little more than a wax figurine. It is odd though, you justify to yourself, he really does look like a hairy doll.

But then he moves his eyes and you see that he is, of course, a living person. Nevertheless, you are relieved to get a sign of motion from him. You somehow feel that if he HAD just been some sort of plastic model, you might have actually lost your mind here.

What lies behind the man and his throne however may be the most impressive sight of all. Above his throne, the ceiling augments into a large, rounded spire. While half of it is covered with brilliant golden architecture, the other half (the one you're facing) is spread open into a magnificent ocean view. You watch as a shark zooms by and then a school of dolphins. This view takes your breath away and you almost forget about the man until he makes another noise.

"Hmm, well hello," he beckons to you and he extends a hand of welcome. He looms a small staircase higher than you and about twenty feet away. You take a few steps forward but something tells you that those few are enough. You come to a halt and he speaks a moment later.

"Do you know why you're here?" he asks you. He poses this question in a way that makes you stop and think for a moment. You feel that he wants a genuine answer to this. What can you even say to that?
