Time Traveller
You climb down and strip to your t-shirt and trousers, leaving the white lab coat on the sand. You'll come back for it later. The Sheriff follows suit, and you wade into the river, doing front crawl until you are out in the larger part of the river.
"Darn it's cold!" The Sheriff says.
As you reach the middle of the freezing river, you realise your mistake. The current here is very strong indeed, and you can't swim against it. You and the Sheriff swim your hardest, but you are washed down the river. It's not long before you reach the rapids and are bumped painfully around against the rocks.
Unexpectedly, you are tumbled over and your head strikes a rock. Sharp pain shoots through you just before everything goes black.
The sky is lightening as you wake up, in pain and groggy. You spit up some water, and stand up shakily, searching for the Sheriff. Eventually, you find him laying on his side in the mud, still alive, but unconscious.
You spend some time waking him up, and then trying to figure out where you are. There appears to be a passage into the cliff that's been used a great many times, and you think that purely by accident you may have found the way to the outlaw's hideout.
"Hey," the Sheriff says when he notices. "Should we head up there?"
You think about it. You're bruised and in pain, and feel like going back now. You decide that you will go on, however, and you and the Sheriff trudge up the long path into the cliffs.
It feels like you have been walking for hours when you come to another junction. The left route looks unsafe, with many fallen rocks, but the right looks free from fallen rocks and seems well-used.
Willyou go left, or right?
